In this article, we present Gothenburg’s largest companies - in terms of number of employees in the region, turnover and market value.
Companies with the most employees
The majority of the largest companies in the Gothenburg region engage in research and development at a world-leading level. Volvo Cars, with its development and production in Gothenburg, is the single largest employer in the private sector in the region. In total, the Volvo Group has over 13,000 employees in the Gothenburg region.
Companies with the highest turnover
The list of the companies headquartered in Gothenburg reporting the highest turnover is topped by the Volvo Group and Volvo Cars, which are also the two companies with the highest turnover in Sweden. Bearing giant SKF takes the third place, followed by the Stena Sphere and holding company Carl Bennet.
Companies with the highest market value
Of the companies headquartered in the Gothenburg region, the Volvo Group tops the list followed by the investment company Latour, Volvo Cars and SKF. The top ten list also features property companies Balder, Castellum and Wallenstam, as well as life science companies Getinge and Vitrolife.
