For the past six months, Taxi Kurir and Sverigetaxi, together with other taxi colleagues, have been assigned to provide the Stockholm region's healthcare staff and citizens with home tests for Covid-19. Now demand is so high that the region paused the possibility to order new tests for a couple of days. As of May, until now, more than 270,000 PCR tests have been delivered in the region, of which as many as 70,000 have been handled through transports by Taxi Kurir and Sverigetaxi. The logistics routes are carefully planned to minimize driving distances and thus the environmental impact.

There is full activity around the clock in Cabonline's premises in Sundbyberg, where booking and dispatch of taxi rides for care trips, business travellers and consumers takes place. Traveling in the latter two customer groups has decreased significantly since the pandemic struck in March. The temporary overcapacity has made it possible for taxi to take on assignments from the Stockholm Region to handle the delivery and collection of Covid-19-tests between citizens homes and Karolinska University Laboratory in Solna.

- Initially, it was the healthcare staff's own tests that we delivered. This was followed by the opportunity for citizens in Stockholm with symptoms to order home tests. It has been about 900 tests per day, now it is about 1,800 a day. Together with the drivers we are proud and grateful for the opportunity to make a contribution to society and happy to get more work given the tough Corona times, says Tandy Magnusson, Group Manager Cabonline and responsible for traffic management of the tests.

Routes for efficient transport
The process handling home tests puts a great demand on co-planning. Every morning, app. 60 specially trained drivers pick up boxes of tests and receive instructions on which route to drive to deliver, pick up and then transport home tests to the Karolinska University Laboratory in Solna for analysis.

This is how the home test is delivered
The driver gets a route every morning, which Cabonline's employees in Sundbyberg have planned during the early morning hours. The driver contacts the person who will have the home test delivered before arrival. At their home, the driver keeps a distance of at least two meters and use hand sanitizers before handing over the test is in a plastic box to the receiver of the test.
