California Hotel & Lodging Association Honored for Excellence in Communications
Austin, Texas – The California Hotel & Lodging Association (CHLA) is the recipient of the 2019 International Society of Hotel Associations (ISHA) Awards of Excellence for Communications. The awards were presented on Thursday, December 5, 2019 at the annual ISHA Winter Conference at the Kimpton Hotel Van Zandt in Austin, TX. Jennifer Flohr, CAE, CMP, Senior Vice President and Sandra Oberle, Senior Membership Manager accepted the award on behalf of CHLA.
The Award of Excellence in communications is awarded to an association with “a program or project that positively impacts the association’s communication to members and stakeholders.” CHLA was honored with this award for the redesign of the association website – www.calodging.com.
The goal of the CHLA website redesign, besides an update the overall look & feel, was increase usability and improve functionality for CHLA members. A key objective was to improve the member login process and the overall user experience for members. The newly designed website features an advanced search functionality, simple login process, and an improved events calendar.

ISHA Awards of Excellence are given annually to the best lodging association programs and services and is widely recognized within the hotel and lodging industry.
