California Hotel & Lodging Association Members Recognized at National AH&LA Stars of the Industry Awards

Denver, CO – Two California nominees were announced as award recipients at the American Hotel & Lodging Association’s (AH&LA) Stars of the Industry Awards.

Jim Catlett, from the Ojai Valley Inn & Spa in Ojai, California, was awarded the 2013 Outstanding Lodging Employee of the Year Award, Large Property Category and Marissa Edwards, Terranea Resort, was awarded the 2013 WIL Connect Leader of the Year award.

The Stars of the Industry awards were presented during the AH&LA Summer Summit held at the Brown Palace Hotel & Spa in Denver, Colorado on June 19.  Jim Catlett and Marissa Edwards qualified for the national award by winning the respective California Hotel & Lodging Association Stars Award in 2012. 

“Both Jim and Marissa are very deserving of this national recognition,” said Lynn S. Mohrfeld, CAE, President & CEO of CH&LA.  “We applaud them on their tremendous accomplishments and are proud to have them represent the California Hotel & Lodging Association.”   

“Marissa is a hospitality professional who serves as a leader and role model within the hotel community,” said Terri A. Haack, Executive Vice President & Managing Director of Terranea Resort and CH&LA Vice Chair.  “It is an honor to have her named the 2013 WIL Connect Leader of the Year.”

“We are very proud of Jim and the 55 years he has spent working at the Inn. In the golf community his name is synonymous with the Ojai Valley Inn and Spa. He is an icon in southern California and he embodies the history, spirit and culture of the Inn,” said Pete Ells, General Manager Ojai Valley Inn and Spa.
