Sacramento, Calif. – Meeting Professionals International, the global association for meeting professionals, has announced that Jenn Wheaton of the California Association of Boutique & Breakfast Inns (CABBI) is the winner of a 2014 Recognizing Industry Success and Excellence (RISE) Award.

The RISE Award for Young Professional Achievement has been awarded to Wheaton for her strategic use of technology and social media to help the bed and breakfast industry in California embrace a new generation of travelers. As a program coordinator for CABBI, Wheaton provides training to members on how to use new and existing marketing channels to reach audiences and has updated the organization’s website as well as increased their use of social media. Wheaton has also leveraged her marketing and web development talents to improve the MPI Sacramento/Sierra Nevada Chapter’s website, newsletter, and member directory.

“Jenn’s ability to affect change and add value to a CABBI membership has been a tremendous benefit for the members and the association,” said Lynn Mohrfeld, President & CEO of CABBI. “The RISE award is a validation of her efforts and the impact and influence she has had on this segment of the industry.”

Recipients of RISE Awards have been selected for exceptional achievements in leadership, community and organizational initiatives, and will be honored at the annual RISE Awards presentation and luncheon on August 3, 2014, during MPI’s World Education Congress (WEC) in Minneapolis.
