Calmark Sweden AB has today received approval for the application for industrial design right for its reader in India.

Calmark's product Neo, which consists of a reader and different single-use tests for blood sampling on newborns, has a unique industrial design that the company has worked a long time to produce. The design is previously protected in Europé, USA and China, which means that no one can copy the ergonomic and aesthetic design of the product. As Calmark Sweden AB is planning a global launch, the company is working actively with both patents and design rights in important future markets. The application and approval in India is an important part of the strategy as the Indian market is considered interesting with regard to the size and infrastructure of the healthcare sector. According to WHO's calculations, approximately 300 million children will be born in India by 2030.

"The approval in India is very important for our upcoming launch of the product. We have put both time and money into developing a unique look for our reader, which is easy to use, practical and stylish,” says Anna Söderlund, CEO at Calmark. "Protecting the intangible values that we have built up for more than ten years is an obvious focus for Calmark.”

Calmark Sweden AB is a medical technology company developing a point-of-care (POC) analyzis method with easier and faster sampling of medical conditions in newborns. The unique test platform, which consists of a reader and single-use products, is expected to be ready for launch in 2020 when three important POC tests are introduced. The WHO estimates that 1.5 billion children will be born worldwide by 2030. In the Western world, the introduction of POC diagnostics is resulting in huge savings and shorter healthcare chains. In less developed healthcare systems, the product helps save lives. Calmark aims to become the global leader and ultimately to offer all relevant POC tests for the first period of life, regardless of where in the world a baby is born.
