Somerville, MA, Jan. 31, 2017Ride, a hit TV series in the U.K. and Canada that debuted in the United States yesterday on Nickelodeon, has inked a publishing deal with Candlewick Entertainment.

Candlewick Entertainment, an imprint of Candlewick Press, has acquired world rights in all languages to a series of books for young readers based on Ride the TV series, which is currently airing daily on Nickelodeon at 8:00 p.m. (ET/PT). The books were acquired by Joan Powers, group editorial director for Candlewick Entertainment and Walker Entertainment, from Breakthrough Entertainment. The book series will launch in September 2017 with Ride: Kit Meets Covington. Two additional titles will follow in spring 2018.

This new chapter for Ride builds on the success of the TV series, which follows the journey of Kit Bridges (Kendra Leigh Timmins), an American teenager who must adjust to life in England at The Covington Academy, after her father accepts his dream job as the equestrian supervisor at the school.  The series first launched in Canada on September 5, 2016, on YTV and in the U.K. on November 7, 2016, on Nickelodeon.

“We are thrilled to be working with the amazing team at Candlewick on this new book series,” said Joan Lambur of Breakthrough Entertainment, the executive producer of Ride. “We are confident that young readers will love following Kit on her adventures in the English countryside.”
