The popular Emily Windsnap series, now with 5 million copies in print worldwide, swims back into bookstores with a new release March 20, 2018
After a three-year break, Candlewick Press will publish the highly anticipated seventh installment by New York Times best-selling author Liz Kessler
Somerville, MA — One year from today, middle-grade readers can look forward to a seventh adventure in the New York Times best-selling Emily Windsnap series by Liz Kessler. North American English language rights for Emily Windsnap and the Giant’s Promise were acquired by Karen Lotz, president and publisher of Candlewick Press, from Catherine Clarke at Felicity Bryan Associates, to be edited by Candlewick senior editor Kate Fletcher. The book will publish simultaneously in the U.S., Canada and the U.K. in March 2018.
“We are so thrilled to have a new book in the best-selling Emily Windsnap series. Liz Kessler always does a wonderful job creating exciting new places and adventures for Emily, and this time is no different, as Emily heads on what’s meant to be a relaxing tropical vacation with her friends and family. But, of course, since its Emily, excitement always seems to find her!” said Fletcher.
The Tail of Emily Windsnap, first published in 2003, tells the story of a girl who is half mermaid. The series has over five million copies in print in more than twenty-five territories worldwide. The books have been consistent favorites of middle-grade readers and parents, celebrating turning our differences into strengths and featuring a character full of feminist girl power, determination, and the ability to rescue herself. Kessler’s stories are set for major motion picture development, with Hollywood producer Reid Shane and Oscar-winning director Robert Stromberg already committed to production.
About the forthcoming publication, Liz Kessler said, “I am absolutely over the moon to be publishing a seventh Emily Windsnap book. This book was inspired by a trip to Niagara Falls, which completely blew me away. I can’t wait to share the news with my fabulous readers and hope they will enjoy reading Emily’s new adventure as much as I’ve been enjoying writing it!”
The global publication in 2018 will be accompanied by a major marketing campaign and joint worldwide publicity efforts between Candlewick Press and U.K. publisher Orion Children’s Books.
