Carrier Transicold UK and Ireland Service Partners Average 91 Per Cent in Health & Safety Development Programme
WARRINGTON, England, August 10, 2015
Carrier Transicold UK’s network service partners in the UK and Ireland have averaged scores of 91 per cent in the 2015 “Carrier Safe” awards, with two firms – Hull-based Carrier Transicold East & North Yorkshire and Ipswich-based Carrier Transicold Eastern – achieving the highest scores in the 150-point independent health and safety development programme. Carrier Transicold, which operates in the UK as Carrier Transicold UK, helps improve global transport and shipping temperature control with a complete line of equipment for refrigerated trucks, trailers and containers, and is a part of UTC Building & Industrial Systems, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).
“Carrier Safe” is a unique Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) development programme. Created by Carrier Transicold in 2011 in conjunction with the Engineering Employers’ Federation (EEF), an organisation that supports the manufacturing and engineering industries with professional training and advice services, the programme reinforces a commitment to EH&S best practices across the network. The EEF carries out independent annual reviews of all UK and Irish service partners based on a comprehensive set of criteria regarding EH&S practices.
“Our focus on EH&S is a cornerstone of our business, both as a manufacturer and as an employer,” said Scott Dargan, managing director, Carrier Transicold, Northern Europe and Service EMEAR. “We developed ‘Carrier Safe’ to continually challenge our service partners and ensure they meet the highest safety standards, targeting a zero accident rate.
“Working closely with the EEF, we assess the performance of each service partner, and then agree on plans to continually develop and improve these standards,” added Dargan. “Since we launched Carrier Safe in 2011, the average score across the network has risen year-to-year by more than six per cent. This means our customers can be assured they are supported by refrigeration professionals who have been extensively trained and adhere to a strict code of practice.”
As well as highlighting any areas where EH&S standards can be bolstered, “Carrier Safe” rewards the best performing service partners with the chance to re-invest into their own safety programmes. As 2015 winners, Carrier Transicold East & North Yorkshire and Carrier Transicold Eastern have each received an additional cash bonus to invest in further training with the EEF.
The Carrier Transicold UK network spans 22 locations across the UK and Ireland. Each service partner is an independent company, providing service for Carrier Transicold equipment. Together, these service partners employ more than 155 mobile service engineers who are responsible for the installation, service and repair of temperature controlled equipment fitted to vans, trucks and trailers. Their roles include annual temperature control testing and certification as well as F-gas regulation compliance.
