Catella’s property advisory service reports transaction volume of SEK 59.1 billion for 2010

Catella property advisory is one of the leading European advisors in the area of property-related corporate finance and has operations in 11 European countries. During full-year 2010, Catella implemented property transactions worth a total of SEK 59.1 billion (EUR 6.2 billion). During the same period, transactions in the Nordic region and Continental Europe amounted to SEK 39.1 billion (4.1 EUR billion) and SEK 20.0 billion (EUR 2.1 billion), respectively.

The transaction volume corresponds to twice the amount reported in the 2009 financial year. The increase was attributable in part to a general rise in market activity and in part to Catella strengthening its position by being able to offer advanced financial expertise combined with local presence and transaction know-how in a large number of markets. Catella has an estimated share of approximately 5 per cent of the European market for property transactions.

“Viewed from a historical perspective, the transaction market for properties in Europe normalised during 2010, with an increasingly well-functioning credit market. Other underlying reasons are the low interest rates and a relatively volatile stock market, which have resulted in institutional asset managers with long investment horizons choosing to increase their property investments. Because this trend is expected to continue during 2011, a continued rise in transaction volumes is anticipated.” says Johan Ericsson, Managing Director of Catella AB.

“During 2010, the number of major transactions exceeding EUR 100 million increased markedly. Gratifyingly, our latest establishment, Catella Spain, also established a position in the difficult Spanish market during the year, securing several large-scale and prestigious assignments. It is apparent that Catella’s model for establishing new units works well and will thus form the foundation for future establishments.” says Johan Ericsson.
