Brunswick Garage ready for DAB

Brunswick Garage has successfully completed on-site DABmotion digital radio installer training. DABmotion distributors Celsus visited the North London independent to deliver the course, which is quality assured by IMI Awards, to four technicians.

Brunswick Garage is a leading BMW, Mini, VW, Audi, Mercedes, Seat, Skoda and Land Rover specialist. Managing Director Andy Savva has operated successful independent garages since the early 1990’s and is a well-respected industry figure. Having been elected a Fellow of the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) in 1998, he’s now also a council member of the Independent Automotive Aftermarket Federation (IAAF).

Brunswick’s forward-thinking ethos involves embracing new technologies; the business invests heavily in technical training to develop skill levels, as well as in facilities and equipment - so it was no surprise to see them amongst the early adopters of DAB conversions.

Andy said: “We see this as the beginning of the DAB opportunity. If we can be first locally to provide digital radio upgrades, then we’re in a great position as demand grows.

“We’re looking at two target markets; first, existing customers - who we’ll be sending leaflets to - and secondly, new customers who might arrive looking for DAB, but then also be interested in our other garage services.”

“Currently it’s about selling people the benefits of DAB choice – we see this as a customer ‘want’ now but it could later become a ‘need’”

Commenting on the training itself, Andy added: “The technicians enjoyed it; it was clear, precise and gave them all the information they needed.”

Celsus have recently introduced DABmotion ROLA. The new conversion kit brings further improvements in performance, thanks to upgrades to the existing automatic frequency control (AFC) technology, keeping it perfectly tuned for clear audio on the move.

DABmotion ROLA is approved to display the ‘Tick Mark’ introduced this year to help consumers locate trusted DAB products and services. The ‘Tick Mark’ seems set to become increasingly important, marketing activity from Digital Radio UK targeting motorists is planned for the months ahead.

“We’re delighted to be working with Andy and the team at Brunswick,” said Paul Baker, Managing Director of Celsus. “It’s great to find such enthusiasm for new technology – and the technicians all passed with flying colours.”

About DABmotion

DABmotion is a leading brand of in-car digital radio retrofit solutions. The DAB1001 kit brings DAB to any car by using the latest FM modulation techniques, linked with AFC, to decode digital radio and converts this into an FM signal that is transmitted directly to the original car radio wirelessly.

The DABmotion antenna included with the DAB1001 kit can be fitted to either the front or rear window of a vehicle. The DABmotion interface can be located in the glove box, behind the vehicle dashboard, or even in the rear of the vehicle. It may be necessary to consult a qualified vehicle installer about connections, suitable location for the interface or antenna position.
