Digital radio specialists Celsus are eagerly awaiting news on the UK’s digital radio roll out, widely tipped for December’s ‘Go Digital’ conference.

The event, which takes place in London at BBC’s Broadcasting House, is already full to capacity with over 230 senior executives set to assemble from broadcasters, vehicle manufacturers, retailers and digital radio manufacturers.

BBC news correspondent Nick Higham will chair the event with Ed Vaizey, Minister for Culture, Communications and Creative Industries, and Helen Boaden, BBC Director of Radio on the conference agenda.  The showpiece event has been organised by Digital Radio UK, the body coordinating migration to digital.

The growing focus on automotive means Mike Hawes, CEO of SMMT, and Matt Davies, CEO of Halfords will both be amongst the speakers.

“We’re hoping for an announcement confirming future digital switchover”, said Mark Baker, Celsus Marketing Director. “The suggestion earlier this year was the event might also see a government DAB accreditation initiative launched to help consumers find quality products and installers in the run up to digital switchover.”

Celsus have had a busy year following the successful launch of the DABmotion brand and the DABmotion 1001 universal digital radio conversion kit. Plans are in the pipeline for more garage initiatives next year. Automotive is certain to receive more focus as the run up to digital gathers pace and many proactive garages are already gearing up for new business.
