Highly Skilled Technician Joins The Team

First Line, the UK’s largest aftermarket supplier of steering and suspension components continues to invest in the quality of its technical team with the appointment of Lee Morris as the company’s new technical trainer.

Lee has an impressive CV with almost 25 years of motor trader experience, some of which was in a small garage environment and some with two large franchised dealer groups and even a Formula 1 race team. As well as his obvious hands on skills, Lee is also able to lead and train others as is evident from his most recent post, which was as a young apprentice trainer with Jaguar/Land Rover.

It was with this particular skillset in mind that brought him into the First Line fold, as managing director, Dan Joyner explains: “We have always run the business with our eyes set on the future, which has meant that we have been able to recruit personnel into key roles to give us the skills we need as the company grows.

“In Lee we saw someone who can bring a lot to the business by helping our customers, their customers and the internal team around him to gain a greater understanding of the technical details that nowadays are such a part of the products in the company’s varied product portfolio.

For Lee the opportunities at First Line were also obvious: “Although I enjoyed my time with Jaguar/Land Rover, their approach to training was very regimented and followed a very traditional format. At First Line however, I am able to influence the direction for the technical training as I have come in at the beginning of the process and I’m tasked with developing the training modules that First Line will be providing for its customers across all of its product groups.

“A core element of this policy is to ensure that the training is relevant to the particular part of the supply chain, which means the factor training will differ from the training for technicians for example.

“As well as the obvious attraction of the role itself, another factor for joining the company was the number of First Line staff who have been with the company for a long time. I believe that speaks volumes about a business and it certainly helped to make the decision to join First Line even easier.”
