SCHAUMBURG, Ill., December 13, 2011 — Former NFL player Tim Tyrrell is set to speak to parents and teachers on Saturday, January 28, 2012, for the Conant Cougar Dinner Dance. The event is sponsored by Conant Booster Club.

Tyrrell was a running back at James B. Conant High School in Schaumburg/ Hoffman Estates. Tyrell has helped put the school’s football program on the Illinois map in the late ‘70s. His speed, focus, and skills led to 12 scholarship offers and a seven-year NFL career. Tyrrell was a full back/special teams player with the Atlanta Falcons, L.A. Rams, the Buffalo Bills, and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Conant Cougar Dinner Dance is a fundraiser and recognition event. Funds raised for the Conant Cougar Dinner Dance will be used for student scholarships, support the sports and school clubs, purchase needed school equipment, and initiate post-prom events to create a memorable and safe experience for the students.

Tyrrell will set the tone for the evening and introduce the emcee, Sam Armando, a senior ad executive for global agency Starcom, one of the largest brand communications group in the world.

“The booster club plays an integral role to a student’s success,” said Tyrrell. “Without their dedication and volunteer efforts, many of the activities that I enjoyed when I was in high school and the activities that students today rely on would not be possible. I’m honored to speak at this event.”

Conant H.S. is one of five schools in the township of district 211. The school serves nearly 2,500 students and was recently recognized by the College Board as having the highest percentage of students passing their Advanced Placement exams in the Midwest Region.
