Cath Dalton becomes the first woman cricketer to hit a century in the Two Counties Championship.
Cath Dalton, SM and Cricket Deal Direct Ambassador, who was representing Halstead Cricket Club reached the landmark score last Saturday. That in itself understates what was achieved, when she became the first woman cricketer to score a century in the 44 years of the league’s existence.
Sky Sports News HQ interviewed Cath on Sunday just showing what a high profile knock it was and the magnitude of what she has achieved. “I didn’t realise no other woman had done it, which was probably quite lucky, but thanks to my SM Player’s Pride bat I powered through.”
“I would like to thank SM and CDD for all the support that they have given me” she added, “this is my 4thyear playing for Halstead’s first team and definitely my greatest achievement. My thanks must also go to my coaches, including Ian Pont. I really hope that this inspires more girls to get out there and play men’s cricket.”
