Culver’s Restaurant Chain Hits Number 500
Two restaurants to celebrate the milestone
The Culver's restaurant chain, known for its Butterburgers and fresh frozen custard, today hit the 500 location mark. Two restaurant openings in Cedar Falls, Iowa; and Wixom, Michigan; have allowed the Wisconsin-based chain to reach the milestone.
"Since both restaurants opened on the same day, both can celebrate helping us reach the 500 mark," says CEO and co-founder Craig Culver. "On this the year of our 30th anniversary it's amazing how far we've come from opening our very first restaurant in Sauk City, Wisconsin. I'm so happy for our franchise partners, team members and our guests who have brought us where we are today."
Culver's was founded on July 18, 1984 by Craig Culver, his wife Lea, and Craig's late parents George and Ruth Culver. Today, there are nine family restaurants with the other nearly 500 locations owned and operated by independent franchise partners.
In 2013, Culver's opened 28 restaurants including three in the state of Florida. The chain hopes to add an additional 35 restaurants in 2014. Also in 2013, 51 current restaurants were updated with either a refresh of their interior or a complete re-imaging of both their interior and exterior. Thirty-five reimage/refresh projects are planned in 2014.
