DIO and Inland agree sale and purchase of Wilton Park
The Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) and Inland Developments have concluded an agreement for the sale of the Defence School of Languages site at Wilton Park, Beaconsfield, which is due to close in December this year.
The sale now paves the way for the future development of Wilton Park as the preparation of the draft Development Brief continues.
Martin Lloyd, DIO Head of Disposals South said:
“DIO’s priority is to support our Armed Forces as they prepare for operations. In doing so, we keep the size and location of the Defence estate under constant review, ensuring that it is no larger than necessary to meet operational needs.
“I am confident that the disposal will facilitate the early development of much-needed homes on this surplus public sector land in line with the Government’s housing agenda.”
Extensive public consultation will give local people the opportunity to help shape the form of future development on this important site. Further details about the consultation process will follow in due course.
Stephen Wicks, Managing Director of Inland Developments, added:
“We are delighted that the development of Wilton Park is moving closer to fruition. We look forward to the conclusion of the Development Brief and continuing consultation with the local community and all stakeholders to achieve an exemplary development of this very important site.”

Notes to Editors
1. The Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) plays a vital role in supporting our Armed Forces by building, maintaining and servicing what the men and women who serve our country need to live, work, train and deploy on operations. We are working hard to become even better by becoming a world-class infrastructure delivery organisation over the next few years.
2. DIO is part of the Ministry of Defence (MOD). It is responsible for managing and maintaining land and properties, as well as providing related support services, to meet the current and future needs of the MOD and personnel at home and abroad, and to support current operations.
3. Our work includes supporting operational units by providing and improving single living and service family accommodation; training areas and historic military sites. DIO actively manages these to ensure the needs of Defence are met, value for money is achieved, and its heritage is protected, and to achieve its environmental goals.
