MOD Energy Award for RAF Northolt Sustainable Development Team

The Sustainable Development Team at Royal Air Force (RAF) Northolt in Middlesex has won the MOD’s Team Energy Award 2012. An impressive outcome saw the introduction of the Waste to Energy initiative, with the help of Grundon Waste Management. In 2012, the site forecast a 99.89% turn around of waste being recycled or reused, leaving just 0.11% of waste being sent to landfill. This would achieve an estimated £10,000 reduction in landfill tax in 2012/2013, surpassing the waste recovery target four years ahead of the required timescale.
