Portsmouth Naval Base sees £15m investment in new accommodation

The Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) has completed a new £15m accommodation block at HMS Nelson, part of Her Majesty’s Naval Base Portsmouth. The five storey structure, named the Falklands Block, is transit accommodation for personnel who will only be resident at the base for a short amount of time and will also be used for trainee musicians in the Royal Marines Band. It includes 30 en-suite single rooms and 240 beds in four bed dorms. It also boasts common rooms with kitchenette facilities. £10m for new officers’ rooms at Catterick

The Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) has completed a £10m project to provide two new accommodation blocks for officers at Vimy Barracks, Catterick Garrison. An increase in the number of officers based at the Infantry Training Centre (ITC) at Catterick led to a requirement to build two new Single Living Accommodation (SLA) blocks. Major military accommodation upgrade marks project milestone

Thousands of military personnel have benefited from improved accommodation under a major upgrade project which is celebrating the completion of its 20,000th bed space at Defence Medical Services (DMS) Whittington. The Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) is seeking expressions of interest from industry partners to build new Single Living Accommodation (SLA) for Royal Marines Officers. DIO’s priority is providing support to the Armed Forces and the proposed development will provide 60 new high-quality bed spaces with ensuite facilities at RM Poole . The requirement, which has a value of £4-5m, is for a three-storey building which will be constructed on a brownfield site at the base.
