Scotland’s favourite free food and drink show arrives in Glasgow
Press release 17th August 2010 Scotland’s favourite free food and drink show arrives in Glasgow Tesco’s Enjoy the Taste of Scotland roadshow is set to hit Glasgow on Friday 27th and Saturday 28th August 2010. The event, which will be hosted at the Tesco Silverburn Extra store, Barrhead Road, is open to the public and free to attend. The event will be officially launched by Gordon Matheson, Leader of Glasgow City Council. Visitors will be able to take a culinary tour of the region, browsing stalls, meeting producers and sampling food and drink from all over Scotland. Tesco Chairman, David Reid said: “Enjoy the Taste of Scotland celebrates the very best of Scottish fare from Tesco’s many local food and drink producers. We are committed to getting even closer to local suppliers across Scotland and this series of events are testament to that.” There will be two main areas at the event: The Tesco Cookery Theatre - live demonstrations from local producers and well-know chefs including: • The Sisters, Hotel du Vin, Red Onion, Cail Bruich, Two Fat Ladies, Mushtaqs and The Glasgow Restaurateurs Association • Kids Smoothies and audience activities with Donna Knight, Tesco Home Economist • The Gordon and MacPhail whisky cocktail finale The Tesco Fair - a collection of producer marquees and stands, activities and entertainment including: • Tunnocks, AG Barr, Border Biscuits, Highland Spring, Bells Bakers, Lactalis McLelland, Millions Sweets and Robert Wiseman Dairies • Children will also be able to enjoy a variety of entertainment, including the craft corner, face painting from Dotty Dimples and Cherry Faces, the haggis shy, the chance to plant and grow their own herbs and even milk ‘Bella’, the Wiseman’s life size cow Opening Times: Fri 27th Aug 2010 – 4pm-6pm Sat 28th Aug 2010 – 10am–5.30pm Sponsored by Quality Meat Scotland and Scotland Food and Drink, the Tesco Enjoy the Taste of Scotland road show series follows on from the success of the annual Enjoy the Taste of Scotland event in Glasgow’s George Square.
