Itinerary: 16.00 Welcome 16.10 Audience activity with Donna Knight, Tesco’s Home Economist 16.25 Welcome speech from Angus Bell, Tesco’s Senior Buying Manager - Scotland 16.30 Official opening with Gordon Matheson, Leader of Glasgow City Council 16.45 Cookery Demo with The Sisters who run two of Glasgow’s finest restaurants 17.05 Whisky cocktails with Gordon & Macphail Enjoy the Taste of Scotland, which is free to attend, offers the opportunity to meet some of Scotland’s finest food and drink producers and sample the very best of the region’s fare. The launch party will provide a snap shot of the full event which opens to the general public on Saturday 28th August for one day only. Ends Notes to editors There will be two main areas at the event: The Tesco Cookery Theatre - live demonstrations from local producers and well-know chefs including: • The Sisters, Hotel du Vin, Red Onion, Cail Bruich, Two Fat Ladies, Mushtaqs and The Glasgow Restaurateurs Association • Kids Smoothies and audience activities with Donna Knight, Tesco Home Economist • The Gordon and MacPhail whisky cocktail finale The Tesco Fair - a collection of producer marquees and stands, activities and entertainment including: • Tunnocks, AG Barr, Border Biscuits, Highland Spring, Bells Bakers, Lactalis McLelland, Millions Sweets and Robert Wiseman Dairies • Children will also be able to enjoy a variety of entertainment, including the craft corner, face painting from Dotty Dimples and Cherry Faces, the haggis shy, the chance to plant and grow their own herbs and even milk ‘Bella’, the Wiseman’s life size cow Sponsored by Quality Meat Scotland and Scotland Food and Drink, the Tesco Enjoy the Taste of Scotland road show series follows on from the success of the annual Enjoy the Taste of Scotland event in Glasgow’s George Square. The first event on the road show calendar took place on 8th May 2010 in Elgin, with the second show reaching Perth on 7th of August. The third and final show will be at Glasgow’s Silverburn Extra Store on 27th and 28th August.
