Diös sustainability-links its loans with Handelsbanken

By converting the majority of its credits in Handelsbanken into sustainability-linked loans, Diös creates even stronger incentives for long-term sustainability work and strengthens the possibilities for lower interest rates. The loans are directly connected to Diös’ goal of decreasing the CO2-emissions by half by 2030.

Diös has renegotiated loans with a total volume of SEK 1.7 billion to a term of four years. In addition to that, all of the company’s long-term loans in Handelsbanken have been connected to sustainability-linked conditions.

– This type of financing solution further increases our incentives to develop the company. We are convinced that the movement we have started in above all our existing portfolio, is the best for both our business and the climate, says Johanna Olofsson, Head of Sustainability, Diös.

The ambitious structure contains a double materiality, which is in line with the requirements of the EU’s new directive for sustainability reporting (CSRD), says Sirak Mogues, Sustainable Finance, Handelsbanken Debt Capital Markets. 

Greene targets included in the loans:

• Lower the emissions by half by 2030, within Scope 1 and 2 from the level of 2018. The target has been reviewed and approved by SBTi.

• 55% Green buildings by 2026. Diös evaluates its properties according to environmental certification level, primary energy figures and climate risk analyses.
