Ecocert Greenlife, Fairtrade Sweden, NOC Sweden, PRO luonnonkosmetiikka, and NATRUE, are just some of the leading natural and organic organisations set to deliver new insights into the Nordic market at Natural Products Scandinavia this weekend.

Taking place at MalmöMässan in Sweden, on 1-2 November, the show’s business seminar line-up – covering everything from key trends, certification, ingredients, consumer behaviour, marketing, and new innovations – includes big name speakers like Magdalena Streijffert, secretary general of Fairtrade Sweden; Per Grankvist, current affairs analyst and chairman of Fairtrade Sweden; Irene von Arronet, co-founder of Natural Organic Cosmetics (NOC) Sweden; Ann-Mari Patshijew, chairman of PRO luonnonkosmetiikka; Francesca Morgante, label manager at NATRUE; and Elodie Toulouze, international certification officer at Ecocert Greenlife.

One of the key themes being explored for 2015 is the many opportunities for growth in the region.  Stefan Anbro, senior analyst at Euromonitor, will provide a market overview of the Nordic health and wellness market, giving insights into how each specific market in Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland is developing.  Whilst Iveta Kovacova, research analyst at Organic Monitor, is primed to highlight some of the major competitive and distribution trends in the European market for natural and organic cosmetics.

According to Organic Monitor, the Nordic market is one of the fastest growing in Europe, with sales of natural and organic cosmetics projected to reach EUR 200 million in the coming years.  And visitors to Natural Products Scandinavia 2015 will be the first to hear exclusive findings from their latest research.

“Scandinavia has some of the highest expenditure rates for natural and organic products in the world,” comments Amarjit Sahota, president of Organic Monitor.

“The Nordic market for natural and organic cosmetics is growing by about 10% per annum, compared to about 5-7% for Western Europe.  Increasing distribution is a major driver of market growth, with natural and organic cosmetics making inroads in department stores, beauty retailers, supermarkets and the spa channel.  Although specialist retailers (health food shops and organic food retailers) still generate the bulk of sales in the Nordic region,” he says.

New speakers in the Natural Theatre for 2015 also include Fredrika Gullfot, CEO and founder of Simris Alg (a pioneering agribusiness producing omega-3 from farmed algae); nutritionist Emma Wight-Boycott, European sales manager at Protexin Human Healthcare; Maria Varnauskas and Fredrik Häggström from Business Sweden; and Markus Håkansson, head of sustainability services at Grant Thornton in Sweden.

Lara Dassi, co-founder of international organic marketplace and directory Connature.com, has also been confirmed to host an exclusive session on effective communication and building customer engagement.

“Communication is a strong tool to companies that want to grow and it's important to know how to use it properly,” says Dassi, who’ll be offering “tips, information and inspiration to companies that want to promote themselves more effectively.”

“Natural Products Scandinavia is an amazing platform to share information and talk about sustainable issues because it's known that northern countries, like Sweden, are already very developed in this field.  Their consumers make organic choices more often and there are a lot of companies [in this region] that decide to follow a business strategy that is fairer and more sustainable,” she says.

The new Beauty Innovation Theatre will also host four ‘beauty hours’ for exhibitors to demonstrate their new product innovations to visiting buyers.  Participating companies include SKN-RG Performance Skincare, Sõsar, Bathing Beauty, The Konjac Sponge Company, OrganiCup, Aroha AB, Natcos Nordic (Finnish distributor of Triumph & Disaster and Florascent), Apimab Laboratories, Aquaint, and Oh-Lief Natural Products.

Natural Products Scandinavia – the Nordic region’s only dedicated trade event for the natural health, nutrition, beauty, skin care, and self-care market, opens at 10am at MalmöMässan in Sweden, on 1-2 November (Sunday and Monday).  Over 4,000 attendees are expected to pack the aisles over two days.

“I have visited the show every year since its launch in 2012, and am always impressed by its mix of new and well-established exhibitors and comprehensive seminar program, which appeals to everyone interested in being updated about tomorrow's reality in a fast changing and growing market,” says Peter Svorono, managing director of BestCase AB (founder of Nature and a former MD of Life Sweden).

“Based on my long experience in leading positions in this industry and very positive experience from its previous exhibitions, I would strongly recommend all involved in the natural health segment, retailers, wholesalers, importers and distributors to visit Natural Products Scandinavia 2015,” he says.
