With less than two weeks until doors open, Natural Products Scandinavia 2014, taking place in Malmӧ, Sweden, on 26-27 October, has unveiled its full Nordic Self-Care Education Programme. The free seminar programme, available to all visitors and exhibitors over two days, will address current topics facing the natural products industry.

The Nordic Self-Care Education Programme will provide a unique opportunity for professionals in the natural health, nutrition, skin care, beauty, and self-care market to keep up-to-date with the latest industry trends, research and development. Top industry speakers will cover topics including exporting and importing challenges, growing online sales, and marketing and branding.

NATRUE: Meeting Consumer Expectations

Julie Tyrrell from Natrue will be first to speak in the Natural Theatre at 11am on Sunday 26 October, with an in depth session on meeting consumer expectations. Tyrrell launched the Natrue secretariat in Brussels in 2008, to guarantee the continuity of natural ingredients and to defend a strict definition for quality of products.

Panel Debate: What are the strategic issues for the Natural Products Industry?

With future trend specialists predicting a boom for the natural and organic product industries, especially in the Nordic countries, six experts discuss their views on the future of the industry. Panellists include Magdalini Selanikli from ISO PLUS (on behalf of EHPM), Peter Wennström from The Healthy Marketing Team, Dennis Reid from Retail Performance Specialists, Carl-Filip Clausson from Euromonitor, Julie Tyrrell from Natrue, Matts Nielsson from Svensk Egenvard.

Marketing & Brands: Do the Consumers Get It?

On day two, Peter Wennström – founder of The Healthy Marketing Team and a popular speaker at workshops, seminars and conferences across the world – will be asking the question ‘Marketing & Brands: Do the Consumers Get It?’. Taking consumer data and market insights from around the world on food and health issues, Wennström provides tools, which allow marketing teams to make strategic decisions and accelerate brand innovation and NPD. Wennström is a renowned expert in functional foods marketing and is an author of two books: ‘The Four Factors of Success – how to innovate healthy brands’ and co-author of ‘The Food & Health Marketing Handbook’.

Driving Sales & Retail Performance Model

Driving sales – a topic of discussion among many businesses – will be considered by Dennis Reid from Retail Performance Specialists. His presentation will provide best practice systems and processes for improving average sales value by 20%. He will explain the theory behind his idea plus practical templates to help make it happen. He will be presenting this seminar on both days of the event.

State of the market – The Nordic Health and Wellness Market

Also presenting on both days of the show, Carl-Filip Clausson will be giving an overview of the Nordic health and wellness market. Clausson – a research analyst at Euromonitor International – specialises in the FMCG markets and has previously worked on projects for packaged food, non-alcoholic drinks, and beauty and personal care. His seminar will present market data and match it to the latest trends, plus insights into how each specific market in Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland is developing.

Keeping GMOs Out of the Supply Chain

Another highlight in the programme is Alejandro Gil’s session on ‘Keeping GMOs Out of the Supply Chain’. Alejandro Gil – project coordinator at IFOAM EU – will identify the current challenges and legal position for GMO-free food production in the EU. Keeping GMOs out of food is a current project for IFOAM EU, who aim to deliver guidance to operators and support the need for policy frameworks to ensure rights for GMO-free producers.
