The Swedish Dometic Group is opening a new production facility in Suzhou outside Shanghai in China. The factory will manufacture miniBars for the Chinese hotel market that is expected to grow significantly with the upcoming Olympic Games in Beijing and other larger international events hosted in China in the next few years.

– Dometic’s establishment in China is a clear entry on the world’s, at the moment, largest and most exciting market for hotel products. We need a production facility in China to be able to meet the very rapidly growing local demand, says Rutger Wachtmeister, Executive Vice President Marketing and Sales in the Dometic Group. Dometic’s new production facility will manufacture silent miniBars for hotel rooms, a product invented and launched by Dometic in 1973. In preparation for the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008, the World Expo in Shanghai 2010 and the Asian Games hosted in Guangzhou in 2010, the Chinese hotel market will increase by an estimated 50.000 new hotel rooms completed per year over the next few years. – Our decision to establish local manufacturing and sales in China significantly improves our position on this market, says Rutger Wachtmeister. Dometic is today the world’s leading provider of miniBars based on the silent absorption cooling technology. Today Dometic manufactures the miniBar in its own factories in Germany and Hungary. Since 1973, Dometic has delivered more than 4.5 million miniBars to the global hotel market. This market is estimated to continue to grow with new hotels and since silent miniBars rapidly is becoming standard also in two- and three-star hotel rooms. The factory in Suzhou makes China the 11th country in the world where Dometic Group has its own manufacturing. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For further information, please contact: Rutger Wachtmeister, Executive vice President Marketing and Sales.
