DreamHack expands to South America, launches DreamHack Rio, April 19-29, 2019

STOCKHOLM – Today DreamHack is thrilled to announce its expansion into South America, with the first ever DreamHack event to take place in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil on April 19-21, 2019. DreamHack Rio will be hosted in the Parque Olímpico, taking over the former Olympic Arenas for a three day non-stop festival of everything gaming.

Since its first edition in 1994, DreamHack has hosted digital festivals throughout Europe, expanding to North America in 2016 followed by another expansion, this time to Asia, in 2018 with DreamHack Mumbai. In 2019, the DreamHack brand will land on its fourth continent when entering South America.
 
Viewers from South America have been one of the biggest audiences tuning in for DreamHack esports competitions for many years now, and DreamHack will bring that competition to Brazilian soil with DreamHack Rio being the host of one of the seven DreamHack Open Counter-Strike: Global Offensive championships in 2019. Eight international top-tier CS:GO teams will compete on-stage at DreamHack Rio, for their share of a 100,000 USD prize pool.

Tickets for DreamHack Rio will go on sale Jan 5, 2019. Visitors of the event will be able to watch professional esports live on-stage, participe in our byoc lan area, enjoy new video games in a free play zone, check out the gaming expo, see some of the best cosplay Brazil has to offer, and much more.
