DreamHack Leipzig lowers expo age restriction to 12 years and above
Flashing screens, thrilling events, and an exciting atmosphere – from 15 to 17 February 2019, DreamHack Leipzig is the gaming community’s Mecca once again. Visitors can expect a varied three-day program of eSports tournaments, cosplay, community stars, and a large DreamExpo. As of 2019, the latter will also be of interest to young gamers. While admission was previously restricted to guests 16 years and older, this year – thanks to the development of a new hall concept – visitors 12 years and older can also attend the exhibition.
“The DreamHack Leipzig is now open to visitors aged 12 years and older. At DreamExpo, all offers have been approved for the 12+ age group, with which we are making their often-expressed wish come true“, explains project director of DreamHack Leipzig, Stephanie Scholz. She adds: “Of course, there will still be an exclusive area for the 16+ groups that features exciting USK-16 content.” USK stands for “Unterhaltungssoftware Selbstkontrolle”, or entertainment software self-control. The organization is responsible for video game age ratings in Germany.
Highlights for visitors from 12 years are amongst others the Hearthstone “Win the Winter” tournament, which was created by DreamHack Leipzig as well as the International German Casemod Championship, which will take place for the first time at DreamHack Leipzig. Fans of Super Smash Bros. – a Nintendo video game series – will get their money’s worth in the eJousting Games Arena. In total 110 square meters packed with different tournaments and more than twelve game stations are ready to be used for free.
The USK-16 Expo area also has highlights for all the senses. In addition to the many exhibitors, the Event Stage has a diverse event program planned for all three days. The famous Cosplay Contest, where talented artists present their unique handcrafted costumes, reliably draws crowds. There are also the numerous StreamArea streamers, which bring the festival to home monitors in real time. Streamer fans can meet their idols at the Meet&Greet area.
Thus, the new hall concept offers gamers of almost every age the opportunity to attend DreamHack Leipzig and celebrate gaming over three days.
There are discounted tickets for visitors between the ages of 12 and 15. A day ticket only costs 9.50 euros and a three-day Event Pass only 23 euros.
