DreamHack presents the nominees for "Årets Nätängel – Gaming"

During this years “Årets Nätängel” gala, DreamHack, in cooperation with mySafety Försäkringar, will give out a newly instituted award in the category “Årets Nätängel – Gaming”. Following a nomination process, we’re happy to present to you the four nominees.

The award has been instituted to highlight the good role models and examples within the ever-growing gaming community. Out of the many nominations, four have been invited to the “Årets Nätängel” gala at Nalen in Stockholm, Sweden, on November 19 where they have the chance to win “Årets Nätängel – Gaming”.

THE NOMINEES

MELIKA ZAKARIE
Melika founded Girls Night at Inferno Online back in 2016 with the intention to create a community for non-binary, gender variant persons and women within the gaming industry. The response was massive and since then, Melika has become an advocate for female representation within the gaming industry as well as esports. She is also an important role model talking about mental illness and to find peace, both via newly created MYO Gaming but also in her autobiography. We are impressed by her strength and are awaiting her next project with great anticipation.
 
FEMALE LEGENDS
Equality within the world of gaming can sometimes seem to be far away. However, when Female Legends enters the scene, doing what they do, you know that there’s not only hope but also a solution in the long run. The fact that women shall have an equal standing within esports is given. Female Legends are nominated because of their tireless efforts to bring forward the women of gaming. They do this both as a lobby organization, but also thru direct actions such as events and initiatives to create better opportunities and circumstances for women within the industry.
 
KIM “DRAYICH” LARSSON
Kim “Drayich” Larsson is one of the most recognized Dota 2 profiles in Sweden, with a long career as a player. “Drayich” has also become known for his many followers, earned thanks to the close relationship that he keeps to his followers and that always is built on a good tone of voice both in social media and on Twitch. Kim is an active moderator on his channels and is also keen on highlighting important issues such as health, equality and parenthood. Besides his daily streams on Twitch, “Drayich” has also been a frequent radio host, esports coach and host for different esports broadcast – often is taking a stand for the good within the world of gaming.
 
RICHARD SÖRENSEN – HALMSTAD PLAYSTATION
As one of the founders of Halmstad Playstation, Richard Sörensen has managed to make a name for himself within the Swedish gaming scene. Love, respect and a pinch of modesty have taken Halmstad Playstation far. They aren’t all living in Halmstad, but they have certain connections to the city in one way or another. The common denominator is the love for games. This all shows that it is possible to create strong local commitment in an online world.
