STOCKHOLM – eSuperliga, the top Danish FIFA league, is getting ready to hit the finals. Following last season’s successful grand final event at Forum arena, Copenhagen, we’re now stepping up even further, welcoming the crowd to watch their favorite FIFA players live at KB Hallen, Copenhagen, as the venue has been chosen to host the grand final event, taking place Wednesday, April 17. The best Danish FIFA players, many also a part of the world elite, will be competing for the title as eSuperliga Season 2 Champions and a total prize pool of €50,000. eSuperliga Season 2 Finals will be broadcasted on Danish linear TV on Canal 9 and streamed on Dplay. An English feed, with English commentary, will also be available.

Denmark’s best FIFA players will yet again be competing in front of thousands of enthusiastic esports fans
when the winner of the second season of eSuperliga is to be crowned.

Wednesday, April 17, 2019, is the date of the eSuperliga Season 2 Finals, live from KB Hallen in Copenhagen, Denmark. The venue seats 2,000 spectators, so everything is set for a final event just as spectacular and exciting as when
the inaugural season finale of eSuperliga was played last December at Forum arena in front of 1800 spectators, with Brøndby IF winning the title.

I am extremely happy that eSuperliga Finals yet again will be played on the big scene. Personally, it means a lot for my own game, as I thrive a lot better in that kind of surroundings and setup, and I am sure that the atmosphere will be absolutely crazy. This Final event is what the whole eSuperliga Regular Season is built around, so it will be exciting to see, who performs on the day where it all matters and everything is decided. Hopefully, we can win the title again,” said former club world champion Frederik ‘Fredberg’ Fredberg, who was crowned eSuperliga Champion last year after winning the Finals with his teammate Daniel ‘Dingo’ Kristensen.

Brøndby IFs rivals from FC Copenhagen are just as excited about playing in KB Hallen.

Last year I was signed with North (FC Copenhagen’s esports team) and since then I have participated in many tournaments abroad, but last year’s Finals in Forum was without a doubt one of the best live experiences I have had in my career. KB Hallen is a perfect fit as venue for this season’s Finals, and I have a lot of good memories from when I played in the football club KB. I hope that the atmosphere will be at least as good as last season,” said former world champions August ‘Agge’ Rosenmeier.

OVERWHELMING FIFA INTEREST IN DENMARK

Danish FIFA is on an extremely high level and besides August ‘Agge’ Rosenmeiner, Mohamad ‘Al-Bahca’ Al-Bacha has also won the world championship in FIFA. Adding to this, three Danish FIFA players are ranked in the top 20 internationally. In other words, the eSuperliga Season 2 Finals on April 17 is set to serve FIFA of the highest, international class. Just like every Tuesday and Wednesday when the Regular Season is played and broadcasted from 6 PM to 11 PM on Discovery Networks’ streaming service, Dplay, and Danish tv channel, Canal 9.

We are really looking forward to continuing riding on the success of the esports wave, because we can see that esports and FIFA is becoming more and more popular. We are thrilled that we jumped on the FIFA train from the beginning of its professional, competitive arrival into the Danish scene, and we are super excited that we for the second season in a row are able to give our viewers and the spectators in KB Hallen the biggest FIFA event on Danish ground. And if it becomes just half as entertaining as in Forum last December, we’re looking to get a great Final event, says Anders Antonsen,” Director of Nordic Sports at Discovery Networks.

That statement is supported by Marcus Lindmark, CEO at DreamHack, who operates eSuperliga in cooperation with The Danish League:

It’s extremely impressive that we for the second time in a row manage to go into such a big arena with eSuperliga Finals. The interest of eSuperliga and FIFA in Denmark has definitely been overwhelming. DreamHack has a lot of experience and skills with hosting esports events, and we are really looking forward to once again giving FIFA and football fans in Denmark a fantastic experience.

We had a great event with the eSuperliga Finals at Forum last season with several thousands of fans watching live. We’re very much looking forward to the eSuperliga Finals on April 17th, where we’ll once again deliver a world-class FIFA event along with DreamHack, Discovery and many Danish fans – this time in KB Hallen“, said CEO of the Danish League, Claus Thomsen

The top eight teams from the regular season will advance to the eSuperliga Finals in KB Hallen. But this season the top four clubs from the regular season will choose their opponent from the clubs placed 5th-8th after the last round on April 10th. They’ll battle it out in four quarter-finals, before the two semi-finals and of course the Grand Final. All the matches, besides the Grand Final, are played in a best-of-two format. The Champions crowning Grand Final is played in a best-of-three format.

The road to KB Hallen for the eSuperliga teams can be seen every Tuesday and Wednesday from 6 PM to 11 PM CEST on Dplay and Canal 9. Right now the 16 teams in the league are fighting in the regular season to make it to top 8 and secure their spot in the eSuperliga Finals. The game being played is EA SPORTS FIFA 19 Ultimate Team and the tournament is a part of The Official League Qualifying Events in the EA SPORTS FIFA 19 Global Series.
