The patent offices in both Japan and Australia have notified DUG Foodtech AB that the authority intend to approve the patent application "Vegan potato emulsion," which defines the company's unique plant-based milk alternative. This means that the upcoming patent protection will cover the Japanese and Australian markets.

DUG Foodtech AB's patent portfolio has been strengthened by the patent offices' decision regarding the company's vegan drink based on a combination of potatoes, rapeseed oil, and a vegetable protein in the form of an emulsion. DUG Foodtech utilizes the whole potato, except for the peel, which is reused as animal feed, thereby eliminating waste products and making production highly sustainable. Additionally, the technology platform is innovative and can be quickly scaled up.

“We are pleased to note that the patent is also being approved in the Japanese and Australian markets for our unique plant-based milk alternatives,” says Professor Eva Tornberg, founder of DUG Foodtech.

DUG Foodtech AB has similar active patent applications in India, Thailand, South Korea, and the United Arab Emirates. The patent for the plant-based milk alternative has already been approved in Sweden, Europe, China, Hong Kong, Canada, and the USA.
