Eastnine has been named a winner of the 2021 Regional Leadership Awards by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) in the Europe category. Eastnine is one of several award winners, including organizations, projects and individuals worldwide, who create the next generation of sustainable, healthy, equitable and resilient buildings, cities and communities.

USGBC refers to the fact that Eastnine owns two of the LEED properties that have received the highest number of points for operation and maintenance in Europe and is developing its portfolio with the aim of achieving climate neutrality in property operations by 2030.

“Following a difficult year, it is truly inspiring to recognize our green building leaders that have continued their commitment to green building and sustainable communities while adapting to the changing environments around us,” said Mahesh Ramanujam, president and CEO, USGBC. “The 2021 USGBC Leadership Award awardees have improved our world through the power of green building and it is their contributions and work that have helped our communities stay safe and healthy.”

Eastnine aims to achieve the highest possible environmental performance for the entire property portfolio. At present, 90 percent of Eastnine's properties are sustainability certified according to the LEED Platinum or BREEAM Excellent levels. Eastnine sees sustainability certification as a tool for achieving the company's strategy of achieving climate-neutral property operations while the company contributes to improving the quality of life for the people and communities affected by Eastnine's operations.

“We are very pleased that the USGBC has paid attention to the efforts made by Eastnine's employees to implement sustainable strategies for the business. The commitment to certify all properties with a high sustainability standard is a cornerstone of our overall strategy for a sustainable business. We are proud of this attention, but remain humble in the face of the climate-related challenges facing our industry and our company, which requires continuous improvement on our part”, says Eastnine's CEO Kestutis Sasnauskas.
