Echandia forms partnership with Harland & Wolff Technologies
Echandia, a leading Swedish supplier of heavy-duty maritime battery systems, is entering a strategic partnership with Harland & Wolff Technologies. This collaboration aims to facilitate the assembly, integration, testing, and delivery of products to customers in the UK, Ireland, and Australia.
The two companies recently joined forces to establish a consortium focused on the development and construction of zero-emission harbor and coastal tugs, in collaboration with Macduff Ship Designers and Kongsberg Maritime. This new partnership extends the success of that initiative.
The partnership will focus on advancing Echandia's battery technology, enhancing the capabilities of these systems, and expanding applicability to new types of vessels.
The battery systems from Echandia, air-cooled lithium-ion systems certified for heavy-duty maritime use, boasts robust construction and high performance, making it an ideal choice for applications requiring safe and long-term operation. The systems have been deployed across various vessel types, including fully electric and hybrid solutions.
Echandia collaborates with some of the world's largest shipyards and system integrators to equip new and retrofit vessels with batteries for hybridization, electric propulsion, and improved energy efficiency.
Fredrik Hellström, CEO of Echandia, says, "We are excited and enthusiastic about our partnership with Harland & Wolff. We firmly believe this represents a significant step towards securing substantial business opportunities in key markets and emerging segments. Together, we are laying the foundation to enhance our offerings to customers and contribute to a greener maritime industry."
