Together with over 100 companies and industry participants, Eleda has signed the construction sector's roadmap for fossil-free competitiveness. In doing so, we adopt the goal of halving our climate emissions by 2030 and achieving net zero emissions by 2045.

Eleda believes in sustainable business, takes responsibility towards our employees, customers and partners and actively relates to the 10 principles of the UN Global Compact. We have joined the Construction Sector's roadmap for a climate-neutral, competitive and profitable construction sector by 2045.

"Eleda is signing the roadmap because we don't believe that alone is strong. The industry needs a competent and vibrant forum where the industry can meet and share knowledge and ideas. If we are to manage to reach the goal of net zero emissions by 2045, everyone needs to help each other, unite, and spread knowledge, and then I think that the construction companies are doing a good and necessary job when they give us in the industry the opportunity to meet and also check that the work is progressing as planned," says Eleda's Head of Sustainability Jennie Widell.

"20% of Sweden's emissions are in the Construction and Civil Engineering sector's upgraded roadmap, so it is a large and important job that is being done by the industry. The roadmap goes from pilot projects to general floor lifts that create the new normal, where fossil-free and profitability can go hand in hand. This is possible because the roadmap is broad and has deep roots, where seven actors are behind it and where there are many commitments of its own. More than 100 companies and stakeholders have now also signed the roadmap. I am pleased that the sector is ready to halve emissions in all new construction, renovations, and maintenance and that the circular is on its way to becoming part of the commercial transition. We now have a building block in fossil-free Sweden," says Svante Axelsson, national coordinator for Fossil Free Sweden.

About the Roadmap:

The roadmap for fossil-free competitiveness was developed in 2018. It will be upgraded in February 2024 with 14 specified policy proposals that need to be implemented for the sector to meet the net-zero emissions target. The construction and civil engineering sector wants, among other things, to see common limit values for the climate impact of new buildings as well as commitments that the signatory companies themselves make to implement the climate transition.
