Elisa successful in the Finnish 26 GHz 5G spectrum auction

The Finnish auction for the 26 GHz spectrum ended on 8 June 2020. Elisa won 800 MHz of spectrum according its target. The new spectrum is used to expand Elisa's 5G network.

The fee for the license is EUR 7 million and it will be paid in five annual installments. The license is valid from 1 July 2020 to 31 December 2033. The license fee has no impact on Elisa's financial position nor profit distribution capabilities.

Elisa is known as a forerunner in 5G and was the first in the world to open 5G network in Tampere in 2018. Commercial network opened at the beginning of 2019. In just over a year Elisa's 5G network has been built to 25 areas in Finland with coverage of over million people. Elisa offers 5G phones and routers from different manufacturers, and subs are available in 300 Mbps, 600 Mbps and 1 Gbps speeds.
