Elkem Silicones showcases Implantable-grade Silicone Rubbers & Adhesives at Compamed 2019
Elkem Silicones, a leading fully integrated global silicone supplier with more than 60 years of formulation and manufacturing expertise, will feature its Silbione™ and Silbione™ Biomedical range of medical grade silicones at the upcoming Compamed 2019 trade fair in Düsseldorf, Germany, from November 18th -21st.
At this trade fair, Elkem Silicones will be showcasing its Silbione™ range of medical grade silicones for healthcare applications including wound care, prosthetics, and medical devices. In addition to their physical properties bringing durability to the device and comfort to the patient, Silbione™ products are supported by the relevant regulatory documentation. With the current changes in medical device regulations, Elkem Silicones’ experts are able to provide personalized support to provide high quality silicone materials to meet the specific needs of their customers.
In addition to the Silbione™ range of materials, the Silbione™ Biomedical range will be presented at the Elkem Silicones booth 8b C25. Silbione™ Biomedical silicones are manufactured in a state-of-the-art production site in York, SC, USA, which includes a certified ISO class 8 manufacturing environment and an ISO class 7 packaging environment, and are supported by material attestations, toxicological summaries, and letters referencing our Master Access Files (MAF) filed with US FDA by our on-staff toxicologists. The range includes biomedical liquid silicone rubbers, heat cure rubbers, and silicone adhesives that can be considered for the manufacturing of implantable devices like neurostimulation devices and catheter implants.
Elkem Silicones will also demonstrate its recent developments in the field of Additive Manufacturing. This revolutionary manufacturing method, also referred to as 3D printing, opens the door for the manufacturing of patient-specific soft devices like anatomical organs or prostheses.
