Arlington, TX – June 20, 2011First Rate, Inc. is continuing its fifteen-year tradition of traveling to Mexico to build homes for needy families. First Rate recently undertook a Memorial Day weekend trip to Baja, Mexico to do just that, and will travel to Tijuana in July with a similar objective. These efforts are part of the Homes for Hope program run by Youth with A Mission (YWAM) San Diego/Baja.

“At First Rate, we really are committed to giving back, and to First Rate Living founded on our values of Love, Give, Serve and Enjoy,” says First Rate CEO and Founder Dave Stone. “What better way to demonstrate our values than by stepping out of our comfort zone and giving our time, talents and treasure to help others.”

YMAM San Diego/Baja began in 1991 and has built 3,000 homes with the aid of nearly 60,000 volunteers. The greatest impact is felt in the lives of children given a chance to experience better living conditions and all of the social, economic, health and educational benefits that brings.

First Rate employees and clients participate in these events. Hard work is interspersed with meeting local families and learning about another culture, with groups of volunteers becoming closer knit, all while surrounded by the natural beauty of the region. The July trip to Tijuana will be made in conjunction with the Turner Twelve Organization, a Dallas-area non-profit that First Rate supports. Turner Twelve provides guidance and support to inner-city youth.

First Rate invites other organizations to join them in this fulfilling endeavor.

“I am so thankful that God gave Youth with a Mission the vision to develop the Homes of Hope program,” says Stone. “As homes continue to be built, thousands of lives are being transformed and the world is being made a better place. First Rate is proud to play a role, especially since it expresses what we are all about. We invite your organization to take on a role as well.”

A look at First Rate Homes of Hope photos shows that volunteers get as much from the weekend as they give.

About YWAM’s Homes of Hope

Youth With A Mission (YWAM) San Diego/Baja was founded by Sean & Janet Lambert in October 1991. The organization grew in response to the needs they recognized in the Northern Baja region of Mexico. From a small beginning in which thirty young people participated in a single house building trip, YWAM San Diego/Baja is now hosting thousands of volunteers annually. Since its inception, the Homes of Hope program has impacted thousands of children living in the Baja region as their families have become home recipients.
