SMARTFERM will give us the ability to reduce the organics going into the landfill by converting that same waste into CNG fuel to power our collection routes. Good for us, the cities we serve, and California as well.
“Sytrinol is an exciting addition to our portfolio of patented, proven and science based products. New product acquisition is one of Next’s several key growth strategies”.
“Everyday 8 children in this country are shot and killed, and we have to stop and ask ourselves why we are allowing this to happen. We live in a country where it is more difficult to go to CVS and buy Sudafed than it is to buy 600 rounds of ammunition online from your computer at home. There is something wrong with that.”
We are grateful for the MRWMD, who has taken an innovative leadership role and helped bring this valuable, viable technology to the industry and the country. We are confident that this will be the first of many SMARTFERM plants installed in the US over the next several years.
ZWE is excited to bring this proven technology to the US waste industry. Marina is the first of several projects we have under construction in the US and will be a showpiece of the validity of converting organic waste to renewable energy and valuable compost material.
The District has been composting organic materials such as landscape trimmings since 1986. We increasingly see “waste” as a “resource”. The SmartFerm anaerobic digestion system will allow us to evaluate this technology as we plan for the next generation of organics management programs.
The 500 acre site we share with the Monterey Regional Water Pollution Control Agency is known as the ‘Environmental Business Park’. The SmartFerm pilot project is exactly the type of public-private partnership we seek to leverage to utilize innovative technology in the next generation of programs to manage ‘waste’ as a ‘resource’
From our landfill-gas-to-energy program to the Last Chance Mercantile, the MRWMD has earned a reputation of innovative and cost effective programs over its 61 year history. The SmartFerm system is a “win – win” for the community: allowing us to extract the energy as well as compost from the food scraps generated by our hospitality industry. The implementation of this program will further strengthen the Monterey Peninsula’s reputation as a ‘sustainable destination’.
“We feel very fortunate to have customers and partners throughout the industry who share our goals and collaborative approach. We would not have seen such success this past year without their support.”
