Stockholm, SwedenEpidemic Sound, the market-leading soundtrack innovation platform, today announced it has appointed former Amazon, Grubhub, CLEAR, and ClassPass executive Sam Hall as Chief Product Officer (CPO) starting February 5, 2024. He brings over 15 years’ experience as a product leader, as well as deep insight into music licensing as a Member of the Board of Directors at the music tech company TouchTunes.

Hall joins from the US-based technology company CLEAR, where he was Chief Product Officer in charge of developing its biometric digital identity systems for both enterprises and consumers. During his tenure, he was part of the team responsible for expanding its user base by launching the company’s digital identity platform to a B2B audience.

Prior to CLEAR, Hall led the product department at Grubhub, one of the leading food delivery services in the United States, and was also Chief Product and Technology Officer at ClassPass, the subscription-based, two-sided marketplace for studio fitness. At Grubhub, he oversaw the development of the company’s B2B and B2C offerings when the service was experiencing a huge peak in demand that resulted in a rapid increase in revenue, usage, and customers, and ultimately an acquisition by Just Eat. At both Grubhub and ClassPass, Hall led the teams developing and implementing machine learning-based recommendation tools to revolutionize the customer experience.

He also spent nearly a decade at Amazon, joining at the dawn of mobile development with responsibility for developing and launching the Amazon mobile shopping app. During his time at Amazon, Hall led the company’s mobile business from the ground up, applying machine learning tools to the experience and progressing it to reach revenue in the billions.

Oscar Höglund, Epidemic Sound Co-Founder and CEO, commented: “We’ve made huge strides in the sophistication of our product offering to content creators of all kinds in the past three years, introducing tools that make it almost frictionless to soundtrack content. We’re delighted to welcome Sam to accelerate this progress together; he brings a focus on customer experience across both B2B and B2C, and will be instrumental in developing a next-generation soundtracking experience for our creative community.”

Sam Hall, Epidemic Sound CPO, added: “The exceptional talent and drive within the Epidemic Sound team, coupled with their unparalleled reach and profound understanding of how music and sound shape content, create boundless opportunities for product development. I am thrilled to immerse myself in this endeavor and contribute to the ongoing innovation of the soundtracking experience.”

Hall will oversee the product department at Epidemic Sound and report directly to Chief Executive Officer Oscar Höglund. He takes the reins from Greg Elkehag Funk, who held the role of CPO since June 2021.
