  • Johan Mohlin set to hand over the reins to Greg Elkehag Funk as Chief Product Officer at Epidemic Sound

Stockholm, Sweden – Epidemic Sound announced today that Greg Elkehag Funk is to be appointed Chief Product Officer (CPO) starting 7 June, 2021. As a senior member of the executive management team, he will report to Marcus Lewold, COO, and will succeed Johan Mohlin, who will stay on until the end of June to ensure a smooth transition.

Mr. Elkehag Funk joins from Google, where he has held several senior roles since 2008, most recently as Group Product Manager focusing on Google Meet at Google’s Stockholm office. In this role, he oversaw the quality and scaling of Google Meet, during a time in which usage of the video-conferencing product increased 30x as a result of the pandemic.

Prior to that, Mr. Elkehag Funk held several senior product management roles within Google such as leading app safety and app/game search for the Google Play Store; worldwide place data gathering and feature development for Google Maps/Google.com; as well as content partner experience, including Content ID, and partner payments at YouTube. He also led the Episodic acquisition.

Before Google, Mr. Elkehag Funk held senior product roles at Gracenote (building video recognition and film/TV metadata products) and Avid/Digidesign (building Pro Tools for the audio film and TV post production industry).

Oscar Höglund, Epidemic Sound co-founder and CEO, comments: “We’re thrilled to welcome Greg to our leadership team. His experience in product management and audio technology will be essential as we enter the next stage of our growth journey. I am delighted to have Greg on board and confident that he is the right person to take our product to the next level.”

Greg Elkehag Funk, Epidemic Sound’s new CPO, comments: “Epidemic Sound has a brilliant and unique business model, and I’m excited to join its growth journey. To be able to build solutions that help musicians and storytellers express their creativity is a dream come true for me and I look forward to joining the team in the mission of soundtracking the world.”

As CPO, Mr. Elkehag Funk will lead Epidemic Sound’s product team and oversee product management, product design, and music curation.
