Epidemic Sound increases number of sound effects to 90k following feedback from creator community
- Following requests from Epidemic Sound’s community of creators for a wider choice of sound effects to use in their content, the platform has today increased the number of sound effects available from 60k to 90k
- Improved metadata for each sound effect will make it easier for creators to find the right one for their content - addressing another common piece of creator feedback
- This marks continued efforts from Epidemic Sound to stay in touch with its creators’ workflows, following the company’s recent efforts to improve music discovery
Stockholm, Sweden – Epidemic Sound, the market-leading platform for restriction-free music, announces it has today increased the total number of sound effects available for its creators to use in their content from 60k to 90k, based on feedback from its creator community.
“One of the most common requests we’ve had from our community over the last year is to provide a greater choice of sound effects available to use in their content,” comments Märta Strokirk, Head of Community at Epidemic Sound.
“We’re grateful to have such an engaged community that’s always keen to help us understand how to serve them better and we’re excited to hear how this expanded sound effects offering improves their creative processes.”
As part of the process, the company is adding 30k new sound effects - everything from crowd noises, to animal sounds, weather and transitional effects such as whooshes - also pledging to add at least 5k new sound effects each year.
The revamped total of 90k sound effects also addresses another common piece of feedback from the company’s creator community: comments such as “sometimes I struggle finding a specific sound based on the terms I use” and “sometimes I can’t quite work out how to spell the sound I’m looking for”.
Each sound effect now possesses improved metadata including a larger number of more accurate keyword tags; these help to address the subjective nature of sound effect names and consequently provide more relevant search results.
