Stockholm, Sweden – The COVID-19 crisis still means lockdown and travel restrictions across LA. With people staying at home to curb the spread of the virus, it’s leaving musicians unable to travel to studio sessions or perform live - and they’re feeling the financial strain as a result.

Music company Epidemic Sound, which has an office in Santa Monica, is stepping up to support its LA-based singers to create from their homes by providing them with software and recording equipment.

The live music scene has been hit hard. With the concert industry set to lose $9 billion this year as a direct result of the virus. Singers would usually be doing gigs alongside recording sessions, but without these opportunities right now, Epidemic’s program offers them financial and creative stability from the safety of their homes.

The program is targeting 25 singers in total. Some will be given software to allow their vocal producer to conduct virtual sessions and the singers who don’t have home recording setups will be sent rented equipment from Epidemic Sound for them to use.

Epidemic Creator La Kesha Nugent says: “Being out and around the LA music scene doing live performances gives me energy, but with the city on lockdown it’s a no-go. I’m so thankful to Epidemic for sending me recording equipment so I can keep being creative, whilst staying home.”

Oscar Höglund, co-founder and CEO of Epidemic, says: “The focus here, is enabling our creators to keep working. The impact of the virus continues to be devastating, but we want to ensure that our musicians, who rely on their craft for their income, are supported to keep making music.”
