Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery AB choses Etteplan to design 3D printable components
Etteplan, a preferred engineering partner to Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery AB, has received an order to support with additive manufacturing (AM), i.e. 3D printing design for new parts and applications of the gas turbine auxiliary systems.
Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery AB with main offices in Finspång, Sweden, is one of the pioneers in the world of additive manufacturing. During recent years, the company has initiated and implemented AM for prototyping, repairs and serial manufacturing of several gas turbine components in metal.
- Etteplan’s engineering competence, robust screening methodology and strong commitment were key in making them a partner within additive manufacturing for our auxiliary systems, says Henrik Tölander, Production Program Manager Additive Manufacturing at Manufacturing Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery AB.
Etteplan, who provides industrial equipment and machinery engineering services, embedded systems and IoT solutions (Internet of Things), and technical documentation solutions sees additive manufacturing changing the future of engineering and design.
- Our aim is to contribute with innovative additive manufacturing designs of complex products that, depending on application, can cut time in production, reduce the weight or size of components and of the number of parts to produce, store and maintain while decreasing waste and minimizing the environmental impact, says Mikael Vatn, Senior Vice President, Central and Western Europe, Etteplan.
