About Us

The European Spallation Source ERIC (ESS) is a multidisciplinary research facility currently under construction in Lund, with an associated data and software center located at the Technical University of Denmark in Copenhagen. Upon completion in 2028, ESS will be the world's most powerful accelerator-based neutron source for studying the structure and behavior of matter. ESS paves the way for future research breakthroughs in fields such as materials science, energy, medicine and health, transportation, environment, and sustainability. ESS is co-owned by 13 European countries, with Sweden and Denmark as host nations.
