Everdrone and VGR expand world-first drone emergency care network in Sweden
Everdrone is pleased to announce the renewal and significant expansion of its collaboration with Region Västra Götaland (VGR), one of Sweden’s largest regional health authorities. This strengthened partnership will allow Everdrone’s Drone Emergency Medical Services (DEMS) to reach more people than ever before—delivering faster, smarter care in critical moments when every second counts.
The renewed agreement extends through December 2026 and sets the stage for a broader rollout of Everdrone’s autonomous drone network as Everdrone and its partners aim to expand to 10 strategically located Skybases throughout the region over the next 7 months, covering approximately 25% of the population in VGR. Each Skybase functions as an operational hub, designed to ensure faster access to emergency medical support—especially in areas where traditional EMS response times are limited by geography or congestion.

The expanded service will continue to focus on out-of-hospital cardiac arrests (OHCA), delivering automated external defibrillators (AEDs) directly to the scene. The project is part of a clinical trial led by Karolinska Institutet and VGR, making it the first of its kind to scientifically evaluate the impact of drone deliveries in real-world, life-threatening situations at this scale.
But the system goes further: Everdrone’s latest-generation DEMS system features integrated LiveView functionality, delivering real-time video feeds directly to emergency services and dispatch centers. This capability gives emergency services a clear picture of the scene even before the first responder arrives—enabling early triage, improved resource allocation, and better-informed decisions during critical events.

This milestone represents more than a technological advancement—it’s a working model for how regions can modernize emergency care through public-private collaboration, data-driven planning, and field-tested innovation. The ongoing collaboration with Region Västra Götaland, alongside clinical evaluation led by Karolinska Institutet, demonstrates how drone-enabled emergency support can be implemented responsibly and at scale.
