Everfuel grounds hydrogen trailers as precautionary measure
Herning, Denmark, 19 June 2023 – Following an initial investigation of a malfunction and leak on one of its twelve hydrogen trailers, Everfuel A/S has initiated a controlled venting of all hydrogen trailers from the same supplier. Everfuel has safety as a top priority and has taken the precautionary measure as the initial investigative report received today identified a valve as the source of the leak and did not exclude the risk of this being a potential systematic fault.
Consequently, the company has temporarily halted usage of its hydrogen trailer fleet until all relevant valves have been controlled. The leak occurred on 10 June on a hydrogen trailer during operations in the Netherlands within the fenced perimeter of the hydrogen station and posed no risk to people or the environment.
Everfuel is in close dialogue with the supplier of the hydrogen trailers to identify the root-cause and ensure that corrective measures are implemented in accordance with supplier protocol and Everfuel safety requirements.
The grounding of the trailer fleet will have a negative impact on the distribution of hydrogen to Everfuel’s customers and refuelling stations. The company is working to minimise the implications for customers and end-users and will provide further updates when available.
