How to avoid office injuries while still at work

Americans spend countless hours hunched in front of computers and desks during their workday. While Carpal Tunnel syndrome is the best known “office injury,” a greater more debilitating phenomenon is taking place in offices around the world.

“What many doctors and fitness experts are beginning to notice is that people who spend large amounts of time in front of a desk are slowly digressing back to Neanderthal like postures,” says Tri-Fitness Chicago’s Ron Munves. “The increase in neck strains, lower back injuries and pinched nerves can be directly contributed to the weakening of muscles due to the amount of time sitting hunched over at a desk.”

Although the consequences of hunching in front of a desk are severe, the solution to preventing and correcting the condition is relatively simple and effective.

The office workout: Y’s, T’s, W’s & L’s

While sitting at a desk with proper posture raise your arms in the position of the letter, start by first pinching your shoulder blades together, then raise thumbs to the sky. Relax and repeat.

Workers begin seeing results from these exercises within two weeks.

Ron is available to explain these exercises further.
