  • Widely viewed as the intellectual engine rooms for the presidents they served (George W. Bush, Barack Obama) Rove and Plouffe will hold nothing back as they discuss what next year’s election portends for the independent investment advisers in attendance
  • The MarketCounsel Summit (#MSUM15) will focus on business, legal and regulatory issues facing independent investment advisers – complete speaker and agenda information is available at www.mcsummit.com

ENGLEWOOD, NJ, November 16th, 2015 - MarketCounsel, the leading business and regulatory compliance consulting firm to the country's preeminent entrepreneurial investment advisors, today announced additional headliners, who will address the independent investment advisers at its seminal event in Miami Beach, from Dec. 7th to 10th, 2015 (mcsummit.com).

Karl Rove and David Plouffe will come together to discuss the future of independent wealth management in America and what that future looks like depending on the outcomes of 2016 elections.

Rove was Senior Advisor and Deputy Chief of Staff during the George W. Bush administration. He was also head of the Office of Political Affairs, the Office of Public Liaison, and the White House Office of Strategic Initiatives. Since leaving the White House, Rove has worked as a political analyst, Fox News contributor, writes a weekly op-ed for The Wall Street Journal and is the Author of forthcoming The Triumph of William McKinley and NYT Bestseller Courage and Consequence.  Prior to his White House appointments, he is credited with the 1994 and 1998 Texas gubernatorial victories of George W. Bush, as well as his 2000 and 2004 presidential campaigns. In his 2004 victory speech, President Bush referred to Rove as "the Architect".

Plouffe is a Democratic political strategist best known as the campaign manager for Barack Obama's 2008 presidential campaign. A long-time Democratic Party campaign consultant, he was a partner at the party-aligned campaign consulting firm AKPD Message and Media, which he joined in 2000.  Plouffe was an outside senior advisor to Mr. Obama since the president's first day in office and was then appointed as a Senior Advisor to the President (inside the White House) in 2011 following the resignation of David Axelrod, who went on to start President Obama's reelection campaign. In September 2014, he became the Senior Vice President of Policy and Strategy for Uber. In May of this year, he became a full-time strategic adviser for the company.

“The MarketCounsel Summit has never shied away from bringing outspoken strategists to the stage, as evidenced by Mark Cuban and Christopher Cox facing off last year, and followed up this year with a politically themed headline matchup,” said Brian Hamburger, president and CEO, MarketCounsel. “The independent wealth management profession is by far the most exciting, rapidly evolving and growing in all of financial services – therefore it demands that we continue to facilitate debate and candid discussions about existing trends as well as what may portend for the future.”

Also headlining The MarketCounsel Summit are Spencer Bachus, former Representative (R) for the State of Alabama from 1993 – 2015, H. David Kotz, Inspector General of the SEC from 2007 to 2012 and Troy Paredes, SEC Commissioner from 2008 to 2013.  They will be joined by industry faculty Marty Bicknell, Brent Brodeski, Joel Bruckenstein, John Burns, Ed Butowsky, Richard Chen, Ron Carson, Jeff Concepcion, Matt Cooper, Bill Crager, Victor Fetter, John Furey, Rick Fleming, Andy Kalbaugh, Sanjeev Mirchandani, Liz Nesvold, Bob Oros, Shirl Penney, Lowell Putnam, Andy Putterman, John Rourke, Neal Simon, Bob Thornton, Mark Tibergien, Bill Van Law, and Marcia Wagner.

Hamburger concludes: “Now that we have announced both the headliners and faculty, and the agenda and session topics are set, we can look forward to this capstone industry spectacular.  There is no shortage of intellect or candor anywhere in our curriculum.  And with the iconic Fontainebleau as our backdrop, we’re in for a thrilling yet challenging few days in Miami.”

This year’s MarketCounsel Summit will be held at the Fontainebleau Hotel, Miami Beach from December 7th-10th, 2015.  www.mcsummit.com
