Finnair and the US airline, American Airlines, start a codeshare cooperation in January to 12 Mexican destinations. The cooperation includes American Airlines’ flights from its Dallas-Fort Worth hub to Guanajuato, Monterrey, Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, Cancún, Cozumel, Guadalajara, Mexico City, Mérida, Oaxaca, Puerto Vallarta, Querétaro and San José del Cabo airports.

Dallas-Fort Worth is the home hub for American Airlines, and an important destination for Finnair. Finnair flies to Dallas-Fort Worth airport up to daily this winter, and for summer 2025 capacity will be further increased to up to 11 flights per week.

"The cooperation opens up a comprehensive choice of destinations for our customers to Mexico, which is a popular travel destination from Finland and elsewhere in Northern Europe, especially during the winter. Besides Mexico, American Airlines offers our customers excellent connections via Dallas also to elsewhere in the United States and America," says Finnair’s SVP Alliances and Airline Partnerships, Fredrik Wildtgrube

Codeshare flights are flights operated by Finnair's partners, for which Finnair offers seats and sells them under Finnair's flight number. With the codeshare cooperation, Finnair customers can travel their entire route with a Finnair flight number and collect Avios for the entire trip.

These codeshare destinations further expand the existing joint route network with the Atlantic Joint Business partner American Airlines.

"We are happy to offer Finnair customers smoother access to popular destinations in Mexico. The expansion will give customers more convenient connections on American’s expansive network from Mexico to Finland and beyond," said Anmol Bhargava, American Airlines’ Vice President of Partnerships.

Codeshare flights will start on 23.1.2025 and are sold from 13.1.2025 onwards. The flights are operated by American Airlines and its subsidiary Envoy Air.
