Finnair introduces new ticket type for customers travelling with hand baggage only

Finnair is introducing Light, a new ticket type for passengers travelling with hand baggage only on Finnair-operated flights between Finland, Scandinavia and the Baltic countries. Light becomes the lowest-fare option in Finnair’s ticket type offering.

The new ticket type will be on sale from 17 March 2015. All other ticket types continue to include checked baggage.

“This will offer more choice to Finnair customers – they have the freedom to select the ticket type that best suits their needs. We fly a large number of passengers who travel with hand baggage only,” says Tomi Hänninen, Vice President, Revenue Management and Pricing.

“We want to ensure that Finnair’s ticket portfolio offers a suitable ticket type for every type of traveller. The new ticket type is part of the continuous service development towards an improved travel experience and wider choice for our customers,” Hänninen adds.

If needed, checked baggage may be purchased in advance or at the airport. The prepayment baggage charge is considerably lower (10 euros/piece/direction) than the airport baggage charge.
