Passenger Load Factor increased year-on-year by 1.2% to close to 90%

In July, Finnair carried 1,447,400 passengers, 12.4% more than in the corresponding period of 2018. This is the highest number ever in Finnair. Finnair’s long-haul capacity increased year-on-year with three new A350 aircraft that entered the service in December 2018, in February 2019 and in April 2019. The ASK growth in Asian traffic was 12.1%, mainly due to additional frequencies to Hong Kong and Osaka. The North American capacity increased by 29.2% following the addition of the new Los Angeles opened in March.

In European traffic the ASKs were up by 5.8%. The growth derived from one new narrow-body aircraft year-on-year and additional seating capacity in some of the existing narrow-body aircraft. The added capacity was allocated to destinations such as Stockholm, St Petersburg, London and Moscow and new seasonal destinations Hannover, Trondheim and Bologna. Capacity in domestic traffic increased by 8.8%, mainly due Tampere airport, which was partly closed during July 2018.

RPKs increased in Asian traffic by 11.2%, in North American traffic by 27.4%, in European traffic by 10.4% and in domestic traffic by 10.1%. The PLF was 90.0% in Asian traffic, 92.6% in North American traffic, 89.5% in European traffic and 69.6% in domestic traffic.

In July 78.4% of all Finnair flights arrived on schedule (77.4 %).
